Long Term Care Ombudsmen help when residents or family members have questions and concerns about the rights of older consumers receiving long-term care; quality of care or treatment from a long-term care service provider; appeals regarding transfers, discharges, discontinuance or changes in services; and billing and charges, including those covered by Medicare and Medicaid.
The New Mexico Ombudsman Program has help for nursing home residents who want to move from a nursing home to a less restrictive care setting in the community. Ombudsmen provide support and coordination among all parties involved to ensure a safe and successful transition. If someone you know is not being treated well at a long-term care facility or wishes to transition home, contact the Ombudsman Program
