The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) Division of Long Term Care is responsible for the licensing and regulating of Indiana's long-term care facilities. Nursing homes (referred to in the administrative rules as a comprehensive care facility) are examples of long term care facilities.
The Division provides leadership on health care quality issues about long term care. The Division provides leadership and support for public health initiatives in coordination with long term care facilities. And also, the Division protects Indiana citizens with health care regulations that promote quality of care at long term care facilities.
The Division of Long Term Care surveys nursing homes for compliance with Indiana licensure rules. The ISDH is also provides inspections for Medicare/Medicaid certification programs and conducts certification surveys for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
